LVEF partners with professional college counselor Danny Ruderman and Admit U to provide all LVUSD students with web casts and monthly tele-seminars AT NO CHARGE! If you are an LVUSD student, your parent should receive login information for you by mid-September. If you did not receive it or have misplaced it, please contact Jennifer Bercy by clicking on the link below. To visit youcangetin.com and access all the information on that site, please click here. CAAP WORKSHOPSWorkshops are available for all students in grades 8 - 12. The 2010-11 schedule appears below. Each workshop is offered twice, usually during the same week, for the convenience of our students and their families. The content of the workshop is the same on both dates, so choose the one which fits your schedule best. All times/dates subject to change until registration opens (generally the week prior to the workshop).
SENIOR WRITING WORKSHOP:The Senior Writing workshop focuses mainly on effective essay writing by the student. Parents are invited to attend the first portion of the workshop, from 9 - 9:30 a.m., which addresses what parents and students need to know about the college application process. JUNIOR WORKSHOP: This workshop especially for 11th graders and their families covers the college admissions process, the difference between the various standardized tests and how to prepare for them, extracurriculars, how to get teacher recommendations, the details of college visits, how to apply for financial aid and scholarships, how to motivate your student, and much more. Students are HIGHLY encouraged to attend but may not attend without a parent. Some of the topics to be discussed include what you should know about the upcoming college admissions applications, including the overall time line and what should be done during the eleventh grade year, how to use Naviance, and how to work with your child WITHOUT STRESS. WORKSHOP FOR 10TH GRADERS: This workshop especially for 10th graders and their families covers the college admissions process, standardized tests, how to work with your student, and much more. Students are HIGHLY encouraged to attend but may not attend without a parent. Some of the topics to be discussed include what you should know about the upcoming college admissions process, including the overall time line and what should be done during the tenth grade year, how to use Naviance, and how to work with your child WITHOUT STRESS. WORKSHOP FOR 8TH/9TH GRADERS: This workshop especially for 8th and 9th graders and their families covers the college admissions overall time line, how to choose a high school schedule, the difference between "regular," "honors," and "AP" or "IB," how to help your students get organized, stay organized, talk with their teachers, how to begin saving for college, and much more. Students are HIGHLY encouraged to attend but may not attend without a parent. Other topics will include what what should be done during the ninth grade year, how to use Naviance, and how to work with your child WITHOUT STRESS. This year-round program includes live grade-specific workshops, webcast library, teleseminars, links to important sites, email reminder system, Annual Planner, and more. CAAP covers what parents and students need to know to navigate the college application process successfully. ALL workshops are FREE to LVUSD students and parents and are led by Danny Ruderman, a professional college counselor, president of Admit U, and author of The Ultimate College Acceptance Program.
